(Calgary – June 9, 2011) – It's been a busy few months here at joe: media, and we can't believe it's suddenly June! A lot of different projects have kept us all buzzing along here so we thought we should treat you to a few of the highlights:
My RONA Home: Our editors have had a great time working very hard on the CityTV series My Rona Home. Congratulations to Shirley Vercruysse, Ron Carroll, Michael Kronish and the gang from Zone 3 on a successful series. We'll certainly miss having you guys around. Make sure you tune in this Sunday, June 12 for the dramatic series finale! The votes are in and the winners will be announced!
The Burlesque Assassins: Earlier in the spring, joe: media partnered as producers of the feature film The Burlesque Assassins – the brainchild of Calgary director Jonathan Joffe who describes the film as a mix of a new indie "Graphic Novel" style and vintage 50s B movie. We're excited to say we've just finished the submission cut of the film and it's on it way to the selection committee at TIFF.
Banff World Media Festival: joe: media is proud to once again be a sponsor of the Banff World Media Festival, set to kick off Sunday June 12th. We wish Karen, Romina, and Matt all the best as they rub elbows with decision-makers from all over the world, while enjoying the sunshine and fresh mountain air.
Tasha: Last week our offices at joe: were suddenly over-run with 18-25 year old women, all vying for the lead in Tasha – a short film about a post-apocalyptic zombie-slayer. We're getting set to go into production on the Bravo!FACT and AMDF funded short, written by Greg Jeffs and Richard Broad and directed by Spencer Estabrooks under the mentorship of Grant Harvey.
Garden Swing: We are thrilled to be working with Access/Bell Media on our children's series in development, The Garden Swing. A collaboration with the Victoria School of the Arts in Edmonton, The Garden Swing is a live action and animated preschool children's series.
