Thursday, April 12, 2012 – The Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) announced the finalists for the 38th Annual Alberta Film & Television Awards, celebrating excellence and outstanding achievement in Alberta film, television and new media.
We are very excited to announce that joe: projects are nominated for 17 different awards, including 10 noms for the feature film “The Burlesque Assassins”, produced by joe: media and Jonathan Joffe Pictures. (Best Dramatic Feature, Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Overall Sound, Best Musical Score, Best Production Design, Best Costumes, and Best Make-Up). Big congrats to Karen, Jonathan and the whole Burlesque team!
Also on the joe: list of nominations are… The APTN Series “Fish Out of Water” (Best Documentary Series) our AUPE Documentary about the tragedy and recovery of Slave Lake (Best Documentary Under 30 Minutes), and our series of shorts about the Calgary Planning Commission Centennial (Best Screenwriting). We also have two spots competing for Best Television Commercial - Toyota “Adventure Magnet” and Alberta Utilities Consumer Advocate “How’s Your Gas?”.
Our sci-fi short film “Tasha”, nominated for two Rosies (Best Editing, Best Visual Effects), premieres next Wednesday at the Calgary Underground Film Festival before the zombie feature “A Little Bit Zombie” – 7:00pm April 18th, Globe Cinema, Calgary. Come join us for a beer and some brains!
The 2012 Alberta Film & Television Awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards evening on Saturday, May 12th 2012 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Calgary.
