The Battle for the Arctic is Joe Media’s next major documentary project now in production for CBC’s Doc Zone. Produced by Calgary’s Lynn Raineault, the documentary is also co-directed and co-written by Lynn and awarding wining journalist Julian Sher, DOP Doug Munro and editor Howard Wirth. The documentary examines the race for resources taking place under the polar ice cap. Some say that up to 50% of the planet’s undiscovered energy reserves will be found there. Profits to be found under the melting polar ice cap count in the trillions of dollars – the kind of numbers that has Canada locked in a sovereignty battle with traditional allies like the U.S. and with former foes like Russia. The documentary follows the fight, examines the claims, and assesses Canada’s chances for control of the ‘roof of the world.’

Joe Media and Alchemy Reality (US and UK) have entered into an international development agreement to produce a new documentary series for Canada, the US and the UK with the working title of “Un-built”. Upon completion in 2011, “The Bow” will not only be a one-of-a-kind workplace experience for EnCana employees, but will provide a new urban cultural destination for Calgarians and visitors.

Joe Media Group has ‘graduated’ intern Juan Delgado, as he just completed CFTPA Internship in Business Affairs. The internship was part of the CHUM Diversity Mentorship Program, designed to give emerging producers of a visible minority an entry into the film and television industry. The experience proved to be a great success for both Joe Media and Juan, as he developed into an invaluable member of the JOE family. With the guidance of Nancy Laing, Karen Pickles and the rest of the Joe team, Juan became an important contributor working on television, corporate, and commercial projects.
